That is why we offer a doggy day care service, whether you are at work or have a day full of running errands we are more than happy to look after your dog for the day whilst you are busy.
Our doggy day care service includes ; two walks a day, the feeding regime that you have in place, as well as plenty of time to play or chill out in our own home. Your dog will have the full run of our secure garden or the option to curl up on the sofa if you allow this.
We understand that your dog is part of your family and that they deserve the level of care and attention that they would get at home.
We are very dedicated to what we do and love spending time with your dogs. You can rest assured that your dog is in safe hands and will return to you happy after a fun filled day.
Scout is so excited when Thursday comes as I get to spend the day with my second family i.e. Sylvie, Zack & Milo and the comforts of the garden at Dog in the City home....
Plum loves spending the morning in the heart of Hampstead Heath and coming back to Dog in the City home to relax with a lovely lunch before heading out again and returning home happy.
Dog in the City are fully insured to walk a maximum of 6 dogs per person. We carefully select which dogs are to be walked together using personality, age, sex and breed. We will discuss the best way to walk your dog during our free consultation.
If you would like us to walk your dog off lead we are happy to oblige. Before this happens there are several factors we take into account such as if your dog has a reliable recall, whether it is safe to do so and having a signed off-lead consent form from the owner.
Our walks take place either at
Golders Hill Park
depending on the weather.
We usually have a key to enter the property and your dog walker will collect the dog from their usual area of the house.
No details of you, your address or your pet are kept with the keys. Your security is our primary concern.
Yes. We are able to administer your pets medication with written consent from the owner. Certain members of our team are experienced in administering injections - all are trained in Canine First Aid.
We will try to accommodate all client requests and offer our services 24/7. However typically our Dog Walking and Day Care services are during the hours of 8 - 6.
There may be additional charges and limited spaces for bank holidays.
Absolutely, yes! Dog in the City prides itself on being as flexible as possible. We always aim to provide our services even on short notice. However there are limited spaces so we do ask that you give us as much notice as possible so as not to disappoint.
It is at the the dog walkers discretion if they are to walk a bitch whilst in season. If the handler decides they will the dog will be walked from the home and not transported by car. All walks will be on a lead and we reserve the right to take dogs home early if the situation requires.
We ask that you contact us 24 hours in advance to cancel any form of pet care for no charges to apply. We understand that this is not always possible and in these circumstances each case we will be taken on merit.
We are more than happy to help out at the last minute but we can not guarantee a space as most of dogs are booked a month in advance. But we will do our best.
We simply invoice at the end of the month via email. You can either pay by bank transfer, Cheque or direct debit.
First up is a questionnaire, so we can find out a bit more about your dog. Next is a consultation at your home for us to meet you and your dog in their environment. The final step is a trial day to see how your dog gets along with the group walk.
"Tyra came back happy and she was beautifully looked after! We’ll definitely be using your services again!!" - George, Queen's Park
Dog in the City has been looking after our dog Alfie for over one and a half years.
Our dog is looked after daily by Matthew every week and he also spends extended amounts of time there when we are on holiday up to two weeks at a time.
Alfie is always excited when Matthew appears at our front door in the morning and always comes back clearly looking like he has had lots of fun!
Matthew is always on time to pick up Alfie and we also trust him with a set of keys to our house.
I would not hesitate in recommending Matthew to any of our friends.
Matthew and Dog in the City have been walking our dog, Poppy for the past two years. Poppy is sadly deaf but Matthew takes extra care with her to ensure she's safe on her lead with other dogs.
She's also stayed with him on numerous occasions whilst we've been away on holiday too.
Matthew is always so helpful and takes away the worry that we may have when we're at work or away.
She looks so happy to see him when he collects her and is always shattered after her walks, clearly having too much fun with him!
He's never let us down and even leaves little treats for Poppy after he's dropped her off after walks”.
Dog in the City has been looking after our 'first born' Bruce for 5 days per week since December 2010.
We could not possibly be happier with the service received over this time. Matthew is reliable, trustworthy, friendly and above all adored by Bruce.
He has also been the key reason our dog is so well trained. We would recommend Matthew without a moment's hesitation and plan to keep Bruce 'in school' for a long time to come.
If anyone would like to speak to us to gain additional comfort, we will be more than happy to do so.
When we moved to London in 2010 the first question we asked our neighbourhood dog owners was 'Can you recommend a good dog walker?' The answer we got every time was "Matthew"
My Wife and I have a very busy lives that require a lot of travel and therefore a lot of flexibility from our pet sitter. Matthew has so often been a lifesaver for us when we call with last minute requests for additional walks and or over night care.
On the rare occasion isn't able to meet our last minute request, he goes the extra mile to find a solution.
We are all so lucky to having found him.
Dog in the City has been looking after our Wirehaired Vizsla, Boo for over two years now, not only on weekdays but also at weekends and overnight when need be. She always leaves with her tail wagging returns tired and happy!
Dog in the City is quick to spot any health or medical issues that become apparent with the dogs in their care (and to take action if necessary).
Matthew is a gregarious and reliable dog-walker and I would have no issue in recommending him to owners of any size of dog.
Dog in the City has shown a highly professional service, which allowed myself
as a dog owner to feel completely at ease knowing my puppy is in very trusted hands.
Furthermore, Dog in the City has demonstrated flexibility around my schedule and genuine passion for the care of all dogs and I would be delighted to recommend their services.
"When I arrived in London, I had no idea where to leave Timmy when I was abroad. Someone recommended me Dog in the City and Timmy and I couldn't be happier!
Every time I leave him with uncle Matthew, I couldn't be more relaxed. I know Timmy will have a great time!"
Matthew from” Dog in the City” was originally recommended by my VET Dr.Maddie Bamford Village Vet Maida Vale as a reliable, dog loving person for my Dog Katie a standard Dachshund.
I can only say that the treatment of my dog was exemplary, she obviously was very happy with Matthew and also the other dogs. In fact she was so happy that after the first time boarding with Dog in the City, the next time she couldn’t be quick enough to leave me.!! I can only highly recommend Matthew of Dog in the City.
I have been using Dog in the City for several years and have always found them to be reliable, personable and most importantly love dogs! Their pick up and delivery service is very convenient.
I have no problem trusting them with our Georgie and would definitely recommend Dog in the City to anyone needing a dog sitting service.
My family and I moved to London in the summer of 2010 with our dog, Bosco. The biggest worry we had when we arrived was whom we could trust looking after our most prized possession, Bosco.
We are ever grateful that we found Matthew from Dog in the City.
For the past 2.5 years we have used Matthew to care for Bosco while we are out of town and we have never been let down. Matthew always goes out of his way to make arrangements for us even when we call him last minute.
Matthew is friendly, accommodating and reliable. Most important though, we know that he loves and takes care of Bosco like we would. That means the world to us and provides us with great comfort and assuredness when we leave him.
I highly recommend Matthew and guarantee that you will find him an exemplary employee and addition to your work place.
I was personally recommended to dog in the city over a year ago and have never looked back really. I have three dogs, ranging from lulabelle who weighs 1.5k (very, very tiny) cross poodle and chihuahua, followed by Milly, Pomeranian and finally rescue dog Poppy who's is a chorky and extremely nervous of everything and everyone. I have never used anyone to walk or look after my dogs as they are totally members of the family and as they're sooo little I have always been worried.
I met Matthew and me and my girls are totally smitten with him, Milly runs around in circles whenever she sees him, Lulabelle knows she's found a loving lap to sit in and even scaredy cat, Poppy, adores him.
It's a lovely feeling to know that when we're away the girls are going to a loving, seriously dog mad environment and that their every command, demand and wish is catered for. I have heard that Lulabelle (being so tiny) manages to escape from the kitchen and Matthew finds his feet extremely warm in the morning with a sleeping poochi lying on them under the duvet! That is something money cannot buy.
I have known Matthew for 1 year, and he has looked after my Beagle puppy Scout during this year both on an occasional daily basis, and also for long extended periods whilst I’ve been on vacation, on one occasion for almost 4 weeks.
From my first meeting with Matthew, I immediately knew he was the right person to take care of my dog when I needed. He is a wonderful person, warm and loving and clearly loves animals very much. Scout took to him immediately and runs to the door when he hears him arrive, even though she knows it means she’s being taken away.
She really loves her time with him, is always happy and secure when with him and comes home fit and healthy after so many long walks on Hampstead Heath.
I would absolutely recommend Matthew to anyone as a dog minder. Your dog will be happy and safe with him.
I’m very happy to speak with you further if there is any other information you need.
